Cute book about unconditionally loving your family, despite differences. Also shows that you can admire and be friends with someone who does something you admire, even if you can’t do it yourself. This is the opposite of jealousy and a good lesson for kids to learn.
It also shows that you shouldn’t give up on each other. It’s sweet that the baby wren learns how to sing by trying to inspire picco to heal. Nice illustrations and a loving story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Appreciation of Differences, Love heals

As a mom with a child with differences, I so appreciated the way Wren Three struggled with being different despite her families acceptance…then creatively found a way to overcome it by helping her piccolo friend fly. He could play music while she flew. But when her friend Picco got hurt, it was her concern for him and commitment to helping him heal, that helped her find her voice. The book demonstrates that having differences can be painful but acceptance, creativity, love and perseverance can help us find the gifts that differences bring.

Such a sweet story. We are not all born with the same skills but each one finds their strengths and successes. The unexpected friendship of a wren and a piccolo! Utterly charming. Acceptance in a family, support and caring in a friendship. Life becomes richer and new skills emerge. An engaging tale with lovely illustrations for the very young, and good life teaching for both young and old! I recommend this book!

My 7 year old (and I) just loved this story. We read together all of the time and it was refreshing to find such an original book. I loved the creative problem solving between Picco and Wren 3 to find solutions to their difficulties/differences. The illustrations in this book were fun and beautiful too. I highly recommend this book…it was definitely a hit in our household!

A heartwarming story of three wren chicks and their mama (and a piccolo!), this is a perfect book for a child who is beginning to read, or likes being read to. The colorful and quirky illustrations will enchant the young reader and draw them into the magical world of picco and wren three. Definitely a keeper.

This was a fun little read, a perfect bedtime (or anytime) story told with imagination, warmth and colorfully illustrated. It is sure to put a smile on a childs face, you may be reading it often with them, and singing like a bird.
